TTK and Akamai team up to develop content delivery infrastructure
TT Correspondent |  |  22 Jan 2014

TTK, one of Russia’s largest telecommunications providers, has signed a Network partnership agreement with Akamai, a leading Cloud Infrastructure provider.

As part of the first stage of the collaboration, TTK installed on its new node in Moscow a set of Akamai servers which will improve the responsiveness and quality of experience for TTK subscribers when they access most of the largest Russian and global content providers who are Akamai’s customers. Future plans include setting up Akamai servers in the provinces.

The quality of Internet access for end users depends not only on the capacity of the provider’s network and connection speed, but also on how physically removed the content is from the user. Our partnership with Akamai, one of the largest Cloud Infrastructure providers that optimizes and delivers the content of major global content providers, will make it possible to increase the quality of services for end users and off-load the traffic on TTK’s backbone network to the Company’s long-distance nodes», said Vitaly Kotov, TTK vice president and head of the Backbone Unit.

Sabine Sitterli, Senior Director Networks at Akamai added: «Akamai has deployed the most pervasive platform with over 140,000 servers in 90+ countries and consistently invests in our infrastructure to better serve our customers, enabling them to grow their business and embrace new market opportunities. We are excited to partner with TTK, one of the top Russian telecommunications operators, to jointly deliver the Web's most popular content at exceptional speed and also radically improve the user experience for many Russian customers».

Akamai is a leading provider of cloud services for delivering, optimizing and securing online content and business applications. Global content providers including the top 30 media and entertainment companies trust Akamai to reach globally and deliver locally.
