iPhone roll out in India to be world’s biggest
TT Bureau |  |  14 May 2008

With India gearing up to receive Apple’s popular handset iPhone foray the Indian shores, the company is reportedly set to give a gigantic roll out, which will be the biggest around the world.

Industry estimates quote that Apple will make iPhones available at about as many as 2.5 lakh Vodafone and Airtel outlets along with franchisee owned shops. The Indian roll out will be a mammoth when compared to iPhone being available only in about 7000 AT&T outlets in the US apart from the Apple Stores.

Whist Vodafone clinched a deal last week with Apple to rollout iPhones in 10 countries including India, Airtel too announced a similar deal to sell iPhones in India.

Alongside, Apple will be selling iPhones through its own outlets, which are very few in number.

iPhone will be reportedly be priced upwards Rs 23,000 in India and will target high-end consumers.
