The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has allocated GSM spectrum to new mobile operators in Kerala.

The operators comprise of Datacom Solutions, Loop Telecom, Swan Telecom, Aska Projects and Tata Teleservices and have been allocated 4.4 MHz of spectrum each.

On the other side, Shyam Telelink was allocated spectrum for its CDMA services in Kerala.

Kerala contributes just over 4 per cent of the total all-India subscriber base with about 8.8 million GSM subscribers.
