The Supreme Court asks CBI Director Ranjit Sinha to file a counter-affidavit against the allegations leveled on him by senior lawyer Prashant Bhushan

The Supreme Court on Monday asked CBI Director Ranjit Sinha to file a counter-affidavit against the allegations leveled on him by senior lawyer Prashant Bhushan in the 2G spectrum case. SC has adjourned the case till next Monday.

The bench is headed by Justice H L Dattu and comprises of S A Bobde and A M Sapre giving a week’s time to the CBI director to respond to the allegations.

The court also asked petitioner advocate Kamini Jaiswal that the affidavit filed by her were based on false statements or misstatements.

While Prashant Bhushan submitted the original guest (gate entry diary) of the Ranjit Sinha residence and told to court that some unknown person at his residence last night gave him the documents, on the other hand Ranjit Sinha asked SC to disclose the source from where he got all the documents.

Whereas court said that if the Ranjit Sinha not- file a counter-affidavit against the allegations leveled against him would also draw adverse inference against him. Thereafter, The CBI director agreed to file an affidavit in a sealed envelope.

The next hearing will be on September 15.
