Samsung selects Anritsu for automated smartphone testing
TT Correspondent |  |  09 Jan 2015

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd, has selected Anritsu’s MD8475A Signaling Tester with SmartStudio Manager software for automated smartphone testing.

Samsung’s smartphones support many different combinations of radio access technologies (RATs) such as LTE, WCDMA, TD-SCDMA, GSM and CDMA2000, across many frequency bands.  They must be tested to meet the stringent interoperability requirements of over 200 network operators worldwide.  In order to bring products to market ahead of the competition, it is essential for Samsung to use reliable test equipment with robust automation for fast, unattended product verification.

“Anritsu is delighted that Samsung, the world’s largest smartphone maker, has selected the MD8475A as a key tool in their development process. Samsung’s selection shows how Anritsu’s MD8475A helps LTE device makers ensure their product quality in an intensely competitive market while reducing the product launch cycle time,” said Takahashi Toshihiko, Senior Vice President of R&D at Anritsu.

“Anritsu has proven itself to be a good partner. The MD8475A allows us to fully test our wide range of smartphone products against many different network configurations in the most efficient manner,” said Park, Yun-Sang, Senior Vice President at Samsung Electronics.

Anritsu's MD8475A is a reliable and powerful network simulator supporting all required radio technologies in a small footprint unit.  The MD8475A’s built-in server for IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) test capability supports critical user features.  The MD8475A includes SmartStudio, an easy to use graphical interface enabling easy editing of call parameters.

The SmartStudio Manager PC software enables easy creation and execution of fully automated test sequences. Samsung engineers have created over 100 automated test sequences to verify smartphone functions including IMS connectivity with these easy to use tools.  Samsung’s many global R&D sites are adopting this solution to efficiently test their smartphone portfolio.
