Internet voice calling app Ringo had launched last week its cheap domestic voice calling service in India. But the Ringo has suspended its domestic calling services in India. Company said on Monday that some operators are allegedly blocking the service on their networks.
Ringo offers STD call or a local call at a call rate of Rs. 0.19 per minute while operators charge roughly around Rs. 1.20 per minute for STD calls and Rs. 0.40 per minute with any special tariff plan.
Ringo service is "fully legal," and compliant with all aspects of the DoT and Trai. The company also said that it will work with regulatory authorities to get the service unblocked. In the meanwhile, users can use Ringo app to make international calls.
In an official blog post, Ringo CEO & Founder Bhavin Turakhia said: -
We launched domestic calling on Ringo at just 19 ps/m, and the response we have received over the past few days has been staggering, to say the least. We’re incredibly humbled! :)
However, we've run into a few hurdles along the way, because of which we've had to put the pin back in our hand grenade...in other words, domestic calls on Ringo have been paused temporarily.
For our users who've purchased credits, you can use these credits towards making international calls. If you'd prefer to opt for a refund, please contact us at refunds@ringo.co, and we will refund any unutilized amount right away.
Please Note: Ringo International Calls will continue to work normally without any issues.
I promise we'll be back soon and that we'll keep you updated every step of the way!
Thank you for your continued support and patience.
