Motorola Inc. has pumped in investments worth $1 billion in research and development in China till date, and intends to continue to swell the investment, said Motorola Electronic Ltd. (China), President Ruey-bin Kao, on Thursday.
“We will continue to increase our R&D investment in China, covering product innovation and technology upgrades. Strategically, our R&D centers in China are an important part of our global R&D system, and this strategy won''t change,” Kao said in a press conference.
Kao perceives the restructuring of China’s telecommunication industry as a positive change and said, “Our China plants are already producing 3G equipment now for global sales, so we are well prepared, both in terms of R&D and production capability, for 3G business development in China.”
The upcoming spin-off of Motorola’s handset division won’t change the company’s business operations in China, he said. |
