Aksh, MTNL tie-up launches IPTV services without the need for broadband connection
TT Bureau |  |  16 Jun 2008

Aksh Optifibre Ltd, a manufacturer of cable and optical fibre, in collaboration with MTNL, said it has launched ‘icontrol’ branded IPTV services that enables consumers to watch the TV programs they desire on their own convenient time, in Delhi and Mumbai. The main differentiator in this service as compared to conventional IPTV services is that the subscriber need not have a broadband connection to avail the services.

Enforcing the brand positioning of the service, which is reflected in its innovative tagline – ‘TV is servant’, a requested program is delivered at the same time. The ‘i’ in icontrol stands for the ‘Interactivity factor’ prevalent in IPTV.

The IPTV based television service offers over 120 channels, 200 movies on demand with rewind, fast forward and pause options.

The company is offering the service with a host of features for a monthly subscription of Rs. 199.

Aksh intends to invest close to $37 million in its services business on IPTV and VoIP platforms.
