ZTE Corporation or ZTE has led the industry in Optical Networking (ON) sales last year, with its sales swelling by 120 percent in 4Q 2007 as against 2006, revealed a report commissioned by international research firm Ovum.

According to the report “Market Share 4Q07 and 2007 Global ON”, ZTE stands second in areas of global market share for LH Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) and ADM.

“It is a significant accomplishment for us that our ON products have successfully penetrated more than 90 countries worldwide, including APAC, Europe, North America, Africa and Middle East,” said Mr. Han Ling, ZTE’s vice president and general manager, optical network products.

The study further projects the global ON spending to touch $16.4 billion by the end of 2008 and sees ample market opportunities and demands for bandwidth to rise in the coming years.

The Ovum report studies quarterly results of different ON solution vendors and weighs that with the sales posted in the earlier year.
