VoIP player Nimbuzz raises $15 mn in second round funding

Mobile VoIP and instant messaging (IM) firm, Nimbuzz announced raising $ 15 million in second round of funding with Naspers/MIH and current investor, Mangrove Capital Partners participating in the fund raising exercise.

 

Nimbuzz plans to use the funds for enhanced product development and offering so as to make increased number of handsets equipped with the company’s platform.

 

“We are actively working on strategic distribution deals with leading social networks and mobile operators. It is our aim to blend our technology with existing mobile internet access to upgrade the value chain for business and consumers alike. Operators understand the need for services like Nimbuzz which provide traffic and drive the demand for mobile data plans, an ever more important revenue stream,” said Nimbuzz Founder and CEO Evert Jaap Lugt.
