Qualcomm, Broadcom face-off in patent infringement case
TT Bureau |  |  11 Jul 2008

Qualcomm and Broadcom Corp., a chip maker company appeared before a court over  patent disputes between the two pertaining to use of these in mobile handsets which offer Internet and other features.

The US District judge had imposed a ban on Qualcomm last year restricting it from selling WCDMA chips by January 2009 citing allegations of infringement on three Broadcom patents.

Upon Broadcom’s allegations the court also asked Qualcomm to pay royalties for the chips it has sold during the “sunset period”.
