ESPN has acquired world’s leading motor racing website, Racing-Live.com to expand its motor sports coverage across the globe.
Through this acquisition ESPN aims to leverage Racing-Live.com’s services which include live updates and news related to Formula 1, Moto GP & Superbike, off road Rallies, Endurance Sports-Cars and Kart racing in various languages including English, French, Japanese, Italian, German and Spanish. Further the company is expected to benefit from Racing-Live.com’s overall users which reportedly stand at 3 million per month.
Speaking on the occasion, Russell Wolff, executive vice president and managing director of ESPN International, said “Serving sports fans online is a priority for us and this acquisition complements our extensive Nascar and classic motor sports coverage across our multi-media platforms around the globe.”
This move comes after the earlier acquisitions of rugby news website, Scrum.com and cricket website, Cricinfo.com in addition to the expansion of fantasy and localized versions of ESPNsoccernet.com, which all are considered to be undertaken for expanding the digital portfolio including the mobile platform. |
