iPhone in India may be priced at Rs 31,000

Apple iPhone 3G is all set to enter the Indian market on August 22. While bookings are open to subscribers there is still not much clarity on the pricing of the handset in India.

 

But reports say that the 8GB iPhone may be priced in the region close to Rs 31,000 in India. This excludes the bundled package of the service provider. The 16 GB version may be priced higher in the range of Rs 36,000-Rs 37,000.

 

Elsewhere across the globe the new version of iPhone was launched in the range of $200 dollars (about Rs 8500). But this was mainly due to the subsidies offered in tie-up with service providers who bank upon the VAS to be offered to iPhone users.

i dont think i will go for iphone . I am buying Htc touch.. They broke my dreams . I was expecting the price to be under 24

What the hell they are doing, y need to launch if one can have 4 iphones from US in almost same cost. Does Apple really want iphone to be a huge success in India, I dont think so by seeing the pricing strategy....

It will be the flop of the year if they do so. People are already selling their iphone(old ones Version1) for around 15K. Nokia N95/Htc touch appears great to me now as iphone is <20K

i think its just a rumour that the iphone 3g would launch at 31000.the price would be in between 20 to 24k.subscribers would also not get access to services like 3g and gps before mid 2009 and the iphone would not come with any plans i guess. so dont wory just wait for 22nd to come.

This is insane. Might as well buy from US and get it unlocked. 31k is just plain simple profiteering. I wont but if its more than 20k.

In US you can get the same 8GB iPhone to $300 means 13500/- in worest case. Are they thinking Indians are fools. We should show our strength by making it utter flop in our market this iPhone.
