  Nokia launched Nokia N96 under its NSeries range of multimedia phones in India with memory size available within range of 16GB to 24 GB whereby customers can store about 18,000 songs, 20,000 images, upto 60 hours of video and 20 ful length movies. The company has announced a pre-booking (advance) scheme with a booking amount of Rs 4000 for interested customers and the phone will be available from September 2008.
The phone comes with a ''kickstand' on the back cover that allows for hands-free viewing and has a 5 Mega Pixel camera and a 2.8” screen.
A unique incorporation in the phone is a S60 security application named Wave Secure which not only tracks the handset in event of loss or theft but also keeps a backup of data via internet. Nokia says this offer is exclusively to customers in India.
The phone has a 2.0 USB port, WLAN and HSPDA compatible and also supports Nokia’s Ovi range of services. It comes with a built-in 3D stereo speakers. It has navigational capability and also provides enhanced experience for gaming enthusiasts says the company.
“Nokia's range of multi-function, converged devices clearly demonstrates that convergence is no longer an industry buzzword - it is a reality for consumers and business users today. In 2007, the Nokia N95 became an icon for convergence of Internet and mobility. With over 10 million units sold to date, the N95 has changed the way people use their mobile device,” said Devinder Kishore, Director-Marketing, Nokia India.
