Vodafone’s Chief may shuffle management
TT Bureau |  |  25 Aug 2008

With only a month since his appointment, Vittorio Caloa, the chief executive of telecommunication major Vodafone, is set to make his first major action as he is believed to be conceiving the idea of shuffling the management of the company.

It is widely believed that Mr. Colao may appoint two senior executives to run the company''s fast-growing businesses in Asia and Africa, where the group has focused its recent expansion efforts.

The move if undertaken would alter the pattern laid down by his precursor, Arun Sarin, who consolidated the top executive team by making Mr Colao deputy chief executive and head of Europe, and Paul Donovan chief executive of the emerging markets business.

Analysts believe that the emerging markets business, which currently generates more than a quarter of Vodafone's turnover, faces the risk of becoming unmanageable as Vodafone continues to expand.
