RCom launches prepaid services for BlackBerry smartphones

Reliance Communications and Research In Motion (RIM) today rolled out India’s first prepaid services for the BlackBerry wireless solution, representing the first of its kind ‘pay as you use’ pricing model in the country.

 

The service forms a part of Reliance Communication’s tactics of making BlackBerry services reach customers seeking cost-effective options, flexibility and control over their expenses for wireless services said the company.

 

“We recognize the needs of customers and believe a prepaid option enabled by Reliance Communications will significantly broaden the consumer interest in BlackBerry smartphones and expand our business opportunity,” said Mr. Mahesh Prasad, President- Mobile Data and Content Services, Reliance Communications.

 

Currently, the prepaid service option is available on an array of BlackBerry smartphones comprising of BlackBerry 8830, BlackBerry Curve 8330 (both GSM and CDMA), BlackBerry Pear 8100, BlackBerry Pearl 8130 and BlackBerry 8703.
