Bharat BPO has launched an aggressive radio-based media campaign to promote its ‘Dial-139’ services for Railway enquiries. The campaign has been scripted by Leo Burnett had is currently on air across 30 cities through prominent radio channels.

"With the objective to popularize the Rail enquiry no. 139, the service has been branded as “Dial 139 for Rail Sampark” which provides instant access to an array of Railway Travel Information. However, the larger objective is to provide various travel services to the Indian Railway passengers so that Dial 139 evolves as a Travel Companion. One of the recent introduction is Dial “A” Ticket which takes the Travel Planning experience to the next level of convenience, a catalyst to the growth of Indian travel industry," said  Shubhendu Ranjan Deb, GM (Marketing), Bharat BPO.

The company subsequently intends to promote its VAS offerings after the current media campaign.

Rail Sampark services offer callers with information on arrival, departure, schedules of trains, PNR and reservation of berth status, fare enquiry, availability of Tatkal accommodation, journey planning, concession and cancellation rules, refund rules and trains between stations.

I think the 139 service is very poor. the agents dont have any more infromation that you can get by looking up the railway web sites, erail.in, trainenquirty.com and indianrail.gov.in they cant tell you if a train is actually on the platform or not, what platform the train will be on , is there a parking facility avlble at a station or not...which platform is nearer to which side of the station e.g. pahar ganj or ajmeri gate for new delhi...things like that they have no idea about and are totallly clueless...the older services were much better...and on top of it they do not advertise that 139 is a higher cost service!!!!
