  India Post is all set to attune to the world class postal systems, as the Minister of Communications & IT, Thiru A Raja said it will acquire a fleet of aircrafts to carry letters, parcels and logistic consignments for overnight delivery in major towns of the country, as he unveiled a new logo in New Delhi today.
Mr. Raja also announced a suite of new customer services like Express Parcel Post Retail service, Gift Parcel Post service, Logistics Post Air service, Sale of Gold coins through Retail Post, express Money Order service, Speed Post Call Centres and a range of new international services that will go on the floor soon.
Further, he said a set of new technological initiatives have also been lined up to bring about Automatic Mail Processing systems to process the mail faster; to equip the postmen with hand-held devices that will capture and transmit the signature of the addressees digitally; to establish mechanized hubs to process the parcels efficiently; to build logistics and warehousing centers for providing supply chain solutions to the businesses.
The Minister added that the new logo marks the beginning of a new journey of India Post, which will constantly strive to focus on customers, technology and business. India Post will take steps to become a parcel and logistics giant, in the domestic as well as international sector. By establishing hubs and transport links, India Post will aim to provide distribution services faster, better and cheaper.
The Post office will also expand its outreach to new and untapped markets, to the new and growing businesses, especially in the parcel, Logistics, retail and e-businesses. |
