TT Bureau |  |  03 Oct 2008

Nokia is really getting aggressive on the VAS front. And in its bid it is challenging head-on the dominance of Apple on the music services domain. The Finnish handset maker is all set to offer unlimited music download services in UK from October 16.

The services comes for free for the first 18 months and allows subscribers to retain the downloads even after the expiry of the subscription period. The services have been branded as “comes with music”.

The services in UK will initially be available on Nokia 5310Xpress Music Phones and later on more handset range will be added. Also the company plans to rollout the services in 10 other countries including markets such as France, Sweden, Spain and Singapore.

On the content front, Nokia has signed deal with Universal Music, Sony BMG, EMI, Warner and other popular music labels.

Competitor Sony Ericsson too plans to offer music download services but with a restriction of maximum limit of 300 songs.
