Google to launch Group SMS services soon
TT Bureau |  |  07 Oct 2008

Google is set to launch Google SMS Channel, a Group SMS service which Google is testing currently in India and which supports English, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada languages as of now.

Google says the new service was completely conceptualized at Google Labs India.

Google hopes to earn revenues from banner advertising and contextual marketing but promises that unlike other group SMS services, it would offer the users a full 160 character message provision.

Do customers always NEED the 160 characters? That is nice of course, but most of the time customers only use 30-90 characters..
