Dish TV and Tata Sky to launch DVR-based services during Diwali
TT Correspondent |  Mumbai |  14 Oct 2008

With an aim to fend off competition from new players like Bharti Airtel as well as Reliance’s Big TV in the DTH space, incumbent service providers, Tata Sky and Dish TV are reportedly planning to offer Digital Video Recorder (DVR) based services during the festive period surrounding Diwali.

DVR allows subscribers to save a particular content airing on one channel while watching another channel. The subscriber can view the saved content as per his convenience later on.

The DTH service providers aim to position this service as a premium offering.

While the set top boxes for DVR are expected to be priced at Rs 10,000, Dish TV says it will support 140 hours of recording time.
