Videocon Group'''s Bharat Business Channel Ltd, which is into DTH services has reportedly stalled all new recruitments due to which the even the appointment of a NRI-based executive who was supposed to join as CEO at a senior level position remains cancelled.
As per reports, the executive was supposed to join Videocon on October 20 but the company withdrew the offer on October 18.
A Videocon email communication sent to the executive stated that due to internal rationalization the company was holding all recruitments and requested the executive to continue with the current job. The email promises to update of new developments in January.
Reports say that Group Chairman Venugopal Dhoot has refuted any freeze on recruitments due to financial turmoil in the market and the DTH market becoming more competitive and has stated that the DTH foray is only deferred by few months.
PN Dhoot, Director of Videocon said that the executive had earlier rejected the offer to join on October 1 and the company had to look for other alternative as it had already started the friendly user trials of the services. A Korean and two more executives were appointed to replace him said PN Dhoot. But then the company received nod from the NRI executive who was now ready to join. The company has now offered to accommodate the executive in its telecom business in future.
Apology: We apologise that in deviation from the original report whereby it is stated that the executive was supposed to join in a senior level position, the earlier report mistakenly mentioned that the executive was to join as CEO. |
