Sun Microsystems acquires Belgium-based cloud computing company

Sun Microsystems announced the acquisition of Q-layer of Belgium which specializes in cloud computing solutions.

 

Sun Microsystems senior vice president of Cloud Computing and chief sustainability officer, David Douglas said that the company expects Q-layer’s technology and expertise to help Sun’s offerings.

 

Sun claims that Q-layer’s software supports instant provisioning of services such as servers, storage, bandwidth and applications enabling users to scale the environment as per their requirement.

 

Q-layer currently has 35 employees and claims to be the first company to introduce full data center virtualization by integrating server, network and storage virtualization.
