Yahoo to roll out iPhone like web experience
TT Bureau |  |  18 Feb 2009

For all those who have longed to get hands over an iPhone-like experience but the price has been a deterrent, are in for some delight, as Yahoo is set to roll out a new mobile service that will provide a similar experience at a pocket-friendly rate.

The new service will be launched by Yahoo Mobile by the end of March in a form downloadable to any phone with a Web browser and from May onwards in custom versions for hundreds of smartphones.

Yahoo will also unveil a version of Yahoo Mobile, devised for iPhone users at the end of March. A similar test version will go live this week for a limited number of public users.

Yahoo Mobile’s front page will have a colorful look, with boxy icons with similarities to the iPhone''s for starting applications such as a Web browser, mail, news, weather and social networking sites.

Additionally, users can also add any software or websites they wish to download on their phones.

And a simpler version of the same downloadable service will work on older phones, as the company gave a demo on an old Sony Ericsson model.
