Corrected: India’s Vihaan Networks unveils ‘zero-opex’ GSM system

India-based Vihaan Networks unveiled a unique zero-opex GSM system at the GSMA Mobile World Congress enabling mobile operators to offer services at a much lower rate and thereby increasing profitability.

 

Vihaan says that per base station cost could be $10,000 as opposed to $100,000 or so charged by traditional equipment vendors.

 

The company also unveiled a solar-powered GSM system targeted ideally fit for rural areas where power resources are scarce in addition to serving up for the environment cause. 

 

Vihaan Networks is promoted by Rajiv Mehrotra of the Shyam Group.
