The DoT is set to appoint special auditors to scrutinize the financial books of Bharti Airtel, Vodafone Essar, Idea Cellular and telecom arms of Tata group to investigate suspected under reporting of revenues in order to gain savings in way of reduced licence fee.  

The auditing company will have to give an undertaking to DoT that it has not previously worked for any of the mentioned operators.
