ZTE clicks two new UMTS deals in Nepal and Mongolia

ZTE Corp announced that it has bagged two ne UMTS contracts, one with Skytel of Mongolia and the other with Spice Nepal Pvt Ltd.

The deal with Skytel will require ZTE to set up a nationwide commercial UMTS network thereby marking convergence of Skytel’s UMTS and CDMA networks.

For Spice Nepal, ZTE will build the network for 6 main zones of Nepal with the phase I to be completed by October 2009.

“We are honored to partner with Skytel and SNPL to build integrated UMTS/CDMA and GSM/UMTS networks to assist them in maintaining their leadership positions in Mongolia and Nepal respectively,” said Mr. Zhang Jianguo, General Manager of ZTE’s UMTS products.  “Our SDR technology will help Skytel and SNPL meet their growing market needs while maximizing their ROI to attain the best business results.”
