TT Correspondent |  Mumbai |  26 Jul 2009

Tata Communications announced its financial performance for the quarter ended June 30, 2009 wherein the company posted revenues of Rs 842.9 crore and net profit of Rs 31.9 crore. When compared on a YoY basis, revenues are seen at a drop of 2.4 % and 67 % respectively.

International voice traffic market is gradually changing for good for end-users in terms of reduced tariffs but the same is pinching service providers who are now shifting focus from voice to generate revenues from other services like data. Tata Communications too appears to be impact by this trend as the company’s revenues from wholesale voice traffic is dwindling 15.6 % on YoY basis and almost at the same rate on a sequential comparison.

EPS was at Rs 1.12 as compared to Rs 3.46.
