One Voice clicks deal with MTNL for Remote Email Access services; eyes BSNL next

US-based developer of 4th generation voice solutions for the communications industry, One Voice Technologies announced the launch of its One Voice MobileVoice Remote Email Access service in India in tie-up with state-run PSU, MTNL.

 

The new service will allow MTNL subscribers to read and send email using voice control or touchtone keys. Users can have access to popular email service providers such as Yahoo! Mail, Gmail, Hotmail, AOL and BolMail along with POP 3 as well as IMAP corporate email access.

 

The service is on offer for a fixed monthly rent of Rs 50 excluding service tax allowing unlimited usage.

 

MTNL’s mobile subscribers can SMS SUB EmailAddress EMailPassword to 51290 for activating the service while landline subscribers can avail the services by dialing 1500 or visting any MTNL Sanchar Haat location.

 

"MTNL has tested the MobileVoice Remote Email Access service and found it to be a superior service for our subscribers," said Mr. Rajendra Prasad, General Manager (VAS) at MTNL. "We feel email access from your home or mobile phone gives our subscribers a high quality service all for a low monthly fee."

 

"It is our great pleasure that MTNL has become the first service provider in India to have this kind of service by which emails can be accessed and sent over fixed and mobile telephone lines through voice. The service will provide a cost-effective solution for managing emails and would be popular and successful among the customers," said Mr. Manoj Kumar, Deputy General Manager (Marketing) at MTNL.

 

"This service is for the masses without the need of having expensive mobile phones or internet enabled phones, therefore all the MTNL subscribers would be greatly benefited by this service," said Mr. Arvinder S. Brara, Chairman and Managing Director of Mantec Consultants.

The CEO added that the firm is in talks with BSNL as well for launch of similar services.

 

Currently the service is available to MTNL’s Delhi subscribers with Mumbai subscribers also set to be offered the services soon.
