TT Bureau |  |  10 Aug 2009

Huawei Technologies today launched Japan’s first commercial HSPA+ network enabling the wireless operator to offer high-speed mobile broadband services with up to 21.6 Mbps on down link.

The upgraded network covers cities of Hokkaido, Sendai, Niigata, Hiroshima, Fukuoka as well as Nagasaki. The new network incorporates technological solutions from Huawei including the distributed base station (DBS) and the HSPA+ data card D31HW.

“Japan’s first commercial HSPA+ network will provide EMOBILE customers with the most advanced and sophisticated mobile broadband services in the country,” said Mr. Eric Gan, Representative Director, President and COO of EMOBILE.  “This is a significant milestone for EMOBILE, our network partner Huawei, and the Japanese telecommunications industry as it heralds the introduction of truly high-speed mobile broadband services that will substantially improve the user experience in Japan.”
