TT Bureau |  |  16 Aug 2009

Alcatel-Lucent announced the appointment of Ken Wirth as the company’s President of 4G/LTE Wireless Network business vertical replacing Mary Chan who has resigned from the company.

"LTE is a cornerstone of Alcatel-Lucent''s strategy and as our customers take different evolutionary paths to 4G, I'm confident that Ken's strong customer relationships as well as his management, operations and leadership experience are the right combination of skills to further strengthen our leadership in delivering comprehensive business, technical and operational solutions for our customers, said Ben Verwaayen, Alcatel-Lucent's CEO.

"I would like to thank Mary Chan for her numerous contributions over a career that spanned more than 20 years, most notably her leadership in helping to drive the commercialization of an end-to-end LTE offer. We wish her much success in the next phase of her career."

Ken Wirth will assume his new position on August 31, 2009 and will report to Kenneth Frank, President, Solutions and Marketing. He will work with Mary Chan to ensure a smooth transition, said the company.
