BSNL ties up with Goa’s Industrial body to offer WIMAX connectivity
TT Bureau |  |  18 Aug 2009

BSNL and Goa Industrial Development Corporation (Goa-IDC) will provide WiMAX connectivity to the Industrial body’s 9 estates through BSNL’s franchisee in the state SOMA Networks.

The tie-up is aiming for 4,000 connections within a year’s time. Around 25 base stations will be set-up to enable the connectivity in the regions.

G R Ravi, GM, BSNL Goa, said, "Goa is an ideal industrial hub and investment destination. We are pleased that enterprises in Goa will now have access to high speed wireless broadband connectivity from BSNL."

Mayur Tanna, VP, Enterprise Services, SOMA Networks, said, "Today, for businesses, Internet is an essential part of the infrastructure, like water, phone and electricity. Our wireless broadband technology helps us quickly provide connectivity to any underserved area, particularly in locations with poor or no wired infrastructure, and at a cost lower than any other competing technology."
