China’s Yulong in talks with RCom for GSM-CDMA dual mode handsets

Reliance Communications arm, Reliance Webstore and Chinese handset manufacturer, Yulong which is a subsidiary of China Wireless Technologies are in talks to form a JV to sell dual mode mobile handsets in the Indian market. The handsets will support GSM as well as the CDMA platform.

The tie-up is aiming for revenues of Rs 600 crore within five years. China Wireless says it derives about 55 % of its total revenues from the dual-mode segment.

Initially the tie-up plans to launch five models to be distributed through Reliance World.

The two parties are also mulling at introducing 3G handsets in the Indian handset market.
