Verizon, Sybase reach out to the enterprise class particularly the MNCs with Managed Mobility Solutions
TT Correspondent |  Mumbai |  16 Sep 2009

Leading player in enterprise and mobile software space, Sybase and Verizon’s enterprise business arm are together aiming to offer solutions enabling MNCs to manage deployment and ongoing support of their mobile work force.

Post tie-up, Verizon’s Managed Mobility Solutions offering will utilize Sybase’s device management platform. The solution aims to connect partners, suppliers, manufacturers, remote offices and remote employees directly to their systems, applications and information resulting in enhanced performance in different aspects of the business.

"As enterprises today strive to incorporate mobility to stay competitive, increase productivity and meet employee demand, they are seeing significant manageability issues across the entire organization," says Nancy Gofus, senior vice president - global business products, Verizon. "Managing multiple fixed and mobile operator contracts and communication costs, selecting mobile devices, network interoperability and device management and security are unwieldy for most enterprises. Sybase is a proven leader in device management software and together we are well placed to minimize the pain points for customers through our new highly accessible, comprehensive managed mobility service."

"Management of mobile work force has become a necessity in today's world with the rapid growth of people using mobiles to stay connected to their work. Every second is crucial while making business decisions and hence availability of data at all points in time becomes critical. Security of data has been a major concern in case of mobile data. Our new alliance ensures that your data is not open to malicious attacks along with facilitating device management. Our new offering with Verizon empowers people with 'secured on-the-go' enterprise' that lets one stay connected to their data", says Mr. Sunil Jose, Managing Director, India & Sub-continent, Sybase Software (India) Pvt. Ltd.

The alliance cites research from Forrester Research highlighting that 73 % of global enterprise workforce will go mobile by 2012.

Four of the Verizon Managed Mobility Solutions modules are targeted for a September 30 launch in the U.S. and 19 countries in Europe with a roll-out in the Asia-Pacific region slated for later this year. The fifth module, Application Management, is currently under development and is planned for launch in 2010. Verizon Managed Mobility Services will be available through Verizon Business and Verizon Wireless.
