MTNL tries to woo subscribers for 3G services with absolutely free offer for 10 days

MTNL announced the launch of a 10-day offer enabling its existing as well as new subscribers in Mumbai to access 3G services for absolutely no charges i.e. they are free. The offer launched on September 21 is valid till September 30, 2009.

However one disappointing aspect of the offer is that MTNL will charge subscribers for data services. The charges are 50 paise per 100 KB.

Subscribers are required to maintain a minimum balance of Rs 50 in their account. SMSes will be charged Rs 2 per SMS.

Interested subscribers who wish to continue the service after the trial period will be waived off the Rs 300 activation fee.
