Huawei ropes in former BT executive as CTO with an aim to increase credibility quotient
TT Bureau |  |  01 Oct 2009

Huawei has roped in former British Telecom (BT) executive Matt Bross as the company’s new Chief Technology Officer (CTO). Matt has served as CTO for BT.

In his new role, Matt will primarily oversee delivery of solutions particularly in the North American market. Huawei has faced rough weather in the western world over the background of one of its promoters.

Bross will focus on identifying global telecommunications industry trends that will guide Huawei’s continuous customer-centric innovation of products and solutions,” the company said in a statement. “He will also support the company’s efforts in delivering the latest products and solutions for North American customers.”

Matt happens to be among the first from the Western world to have joined Huawei at such a senior level.

Analysts say that by appointing Matt Huawei wants to put an end to all the recent allegations about the company over incorporating potential spyware in the communication solutions deployed by it. In USA Huawei’s bid to acquire 3Com was stalled due to the background of one of Huawei’s promoter.
