Domestic player Gemini underbids global MNCs for BSNL WiMAX contract says report

Gemini Communications turned out to be the lowest bidder for BSNL’s tender to deploy 7000 base stations in rural areas, reports The Business Line.

Gemini quoted a price of Rs 983 crore while ZTE emerged at number 2 position with Rs 1,065 crore. Prices of other bidders include Harris Stratex at Rs 1094 crore, Alvarion at Rs 1101 crore, Samsung at Rs 1199 crore, Motorola at Rs 1500 crore and surprisingly Huawei highest at Rs 1600 crore.

Four firms with lowest bid amount will be awarded the contract says The Business Line report. The project is to set-up 2.5 lakh blocks across the country.
