TTML Q2 loss widens by more than 200% to Rs 116.12 cr
TT Correspondent |  Mumbai |  30 Oct 2009

Tata Teleservices Maharashtra Ltd. may have added significantly large number of mobile subscribers offlate. But the same are not contributing in a positive way to the company’s financial fortune as witnessed from the Q2 2009 results announced by the company.

During the quarter, while almost 1.6 million new subscribers were added, the loss only widened to Rs 116.12 crore as compared to Rs 34.36 crore recorded in June’09 and Rs 47.4 crore in Spetember’08.

Revenues for the period are seen increasing with Rs 542.79 crore recorded in the quarter under consideration as compared to Rs 511.93 crore in the previous quarter and Rs 513.44 crore last year.

Another concern is the EBITDA which dwindled from Rs 161.32 crore last year to current level of Rs 121.09 crore. Even in June quarter the EBITDA was comparatively well placed at Rs 157.89 crore.

The only silver lining for TTML appears to be from the increasing contribution in revenues from the passive infrastructure business as revenues in Q2 09 were at Rs 22.49 crore from Rs 2.53 crore recorded last year and Rs 16.4 crore registered in June’09.
