Alcatel-Lucent fails to repeat preceding quarter magic, goes into red again in Q3 09

Alcatel-Lucent’s Q2 performance wherein it had posted a first ever profit of euro 14 million ever since the JV came into existence, failed to repeat similar performance in Q3 as the company again went into red positing a loss of euro 182 million as compared to loss of euro 40 million recorded over a year ago.

Revenues too declined by 9.3 % on a yoy comparison to euro 3.68 billion from euro 4.06 billion. The revenues were down on a sequential basis as well by 5.6%. EPS dripped down to euro 0.08 from euro 0.02 a year ago.

Revenues from North America operations increased by 5.7% while those from Asia Pacific were almost constant with 0.1 % growth rate. However revenues from Alcatel-Lucent’s traditional strong hold were down by 14.3 % and from rest of the world by 31.9%.

Revenues from carrier networks division were at euro 2.2 billion, from applications software at euro 286 million, Enterprise division at euro 250 million and services division at 869 million.
