Apple, RIM, Palm replace Nokia & SE as LG’s competitors

As globally mobile subscribers increasingly migrate to smartphone, LG Electronics is now shifting focus from high volume entry level handsets to the lucrative smartphone market where the margins are appealing.

And in line with this new focus, the company considers Apple, Palm and Research in Motion as its new competitors as compared as opposed to present situation where it challenges Nokia and Sony Ericsson.

Company’s CEO, Yong Nam says that LG is investing heavily in smartphones based on Windows Mobile as well as Android with special emphasis on touchscreen devices.
