Ericsson slashes 700 jobs in UK facility
TT Bureau |  |  11 Nov 2009

Swedish telecom gear manufacturer, Ericsson is set to pull off its R&D and global service delivery activities from its Coventry facility in UK. The move is part of the company’s ongoing cost cutting measures.

There is a possibility that the facility maybe shut forever. The job slashing measures will be implemented by mid of 2010.

"We have to work continuously to increase efficiency and lower our cost base whilst ensuring we deliver solutions designed to meet our global customers' needs," said Mats Granryd, Head of Market Unit North Western Europe at Ericsson.

Ericsson said the move would not affect its local customer activities in Britain. It aims to relocate the activities to other facilities where there are significant scale and product synergies.
