  Handygo is setting example to showcase that MVAS can also be used to attract rural flocks under the mobile services fold.
Its Mobile Info-Guide service offers Fishermen easy and fast access to the information on the potential fishing zones, wind speed, wave height along with the weather suitable for fishing delivered over the mobile medium.
Handygo has tied up with INCOIS (Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services) for all technical content support. The data is processed into information by in-house experts and researchers. Only then the information is passed on in the regional languages. There are 130 odd nodes to disseminate such information.
The information provided includes where to fish, when to fish, potential fishing areas, suitability of weather, etc. Updates on Potential Fishing Zones is provided thrice a week as well as other information on wave height and wind speed are provided on a daily basis.
“We aim at offering our exclusive services to the fishermen across the country in general and the coastal areas in particular. Through our association with INCOIS, we are aiming at providing relevant and accurate information to the fishermen community,” say Praveen Rajpal, CEO, Handygo.
Handygo now aims to impart knowledge to fishermen/ fisherwomen/ processing workers, technicians, etc. in fish quality management, conservation of fish resources as well as sustainable fishing.
The services are offered in 8 states namely Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Orissa, Maharashtra, Kerala and Goa. The access code for the service is 55678.
