SBI comes up with ‘mShop’ services for SBI Card customers
TT Correspondent |  Mumbai |  25 Nov 2009

Shopping just became more convenient for SBI Card holders as the Bank is offering customers an option to transact through the mobile phones and avoid carrying cards while shopping.

India’s larges nationalized bank has come with a new mobile commerce service, mShop for which it has tied up with over 100 merchant bankers. Some of the prominent merchants who are partnering SBI for the service include IRCTC, Kingfisher Airlines, MakeMyTrip.com, PVR Cinemas, INOX and Airtel.

The service makes use of ngpay’s mobile commerce solution and promises a tamper-proof and reliable mode of transaction.

“We are delighted to launch mShop, yet another way to make life simple for our customers. mShop will further enhance our cardholders’ experience with SBI Card. It will also open up a new revenue stream for our business,” says Diwakar Gupta, CEO SBI Card.

Users can select a 6 digit PIN to carry out the transactions and the credit card details are also stored in encrypted, tamper-proof format.

The application can be downloaded from www.sbicard.com or by sending an SMS to 56767.
