Nortel showcases 4G technology at Mobile World Congress
TT Bureau |  |  18 Feb 2008

According to one survey conducted by Nortel, it has been found that people are frustrated by the data restrictions of most of the wireless networks. In today’s world whether you are at your home or in office, you can view the whole world by just accessing the wireless network but what when you are traveling around the world? At such times you are unable to view or download the pages of any site easily as you may have to wait ages for that.

Therefore a need for innovation is felt in the area of wireless networks.  And the next level of innovation is 4G mobile broadband which includes LTE and WiMAX. Nortel demonstrates LTE technology at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona last week.

4G enables to extend the quality experience that users get from their fixed line connections into the mobile world. Nortel has everything to bring carriers successfully into the 4G world. These include innovation in WiMAX and LTE, a strong ecosystem, all IP-core, and a deep understanding of what consumer and business users want for from their wireless experience.

Nortel, LG and LG-Nortel demonstarted at mobile event that how LTE enables the user to watch videos streamed from YouTube or monitor his home security through online video surveillance system access while traveling.

“Nortel is moving forward aggressively on LTE in order to bring to market a solution capable of supporting high demand applications like video and interactive services that will have an impact on operators''' bottom lines and revolutionize the user experience," said Doug Wolff, general manager of LTE, Nortel.
