BSNL, MTNL collectively have over Rs 41,000 crore cash

Gurudas Kamat, Minister of State for IT and Telecom told the Rajya Sabha that PSUs BSNL and MTNL together have Rs 41,471 crore cash at the end of September 2009 quarter.

BSNL’s cash component is Rs.36,392.42 crore while MTNL’s is Rs 5,078.59 crore.

Additionally the government has earned Rs 3,248.57 crore as annual spectrum charges from service providers.

He also said that market share of BSNL dropped to 13.86 % from 21.5% in March 2007 while MTNL’s market share dropped to 9.82% from 13.39% last year.
