DoT says Bharti persistently failing to respond to updates on independent audit
TT Correspondent |  New Delhi |  08 Dec 2009

The DoT has come down heavily against market leader, Bharti Airtel over its repeated failure to respond to DoT’s notices to share information related to independent auditing of the firm’s financial books.

A DoT letter dated December 07 asks the company to now furnish details within 7 days by December 14. DoT says it has sent questionnaires to Bharti on August 12, September 12, October 4, November 12 and November 17. But the company failed to respond on each occasion.

DoT is investigating whether the company is resorting to over reporting of revenues from its NLD, ILD services so as to benefit from lower licence fees.

DoT is monitoring the process on a monthly basis.

Bharti’s books are being audited by M/S Contractor, Nayak and Kishnadwala.
