Mumbai-based VAS player, Nazara Technologies and Cartoon Network entered into a content sharing deal wherein popular comics will now be provided mobile subscribers.

Content such as videos, wallpaper, animation, themes, colour logos and greetings on popular characters will also be offered. The alliance plans to launch a customized application allowing subscribers to download an entire comic to read in one go.

On the tariff front, Nazara is offering the content on various tariff structures such as Re 1 per day, Rs 10 per week and Rs 30 monthly rental.

“Cartoon Network is not only an integral part of the children’s world in India today but almost every Indian has grown up with comics available to them in a wide array of choice. There are over 400 million mobile phone users in India and a recent survey indicated that a whooping 63% kids use a mobile. The aim is to reach out to them by providing new products and services, thus enliven one of the oldest and most cherished content formats – comics, now on mobile. Having comics on mobile phones will enable people to read their favorite comic even when they are on the move,” said Cartoon Network, CEO, Nitish Mittersain.

“We are excited to bring the comics of these new age heroes to the Indian market and our tie-up with Cartoon Network reinforces our commitment to connect with the Indian consumers through content that is appealing and relevant,” he added.
