Virgin Mobile too enters the high-speed wireless internet services space with launch of vFlash

Virgin Mobile launched high-speed  wireless internet service, vFlash  offering speeds as high as 3.1 Mbps over the CDMA platform. The USB-based device also offers storage space of up to 8 GB.

Apart from internet services, the VFlash can also support features such as vFlash TV and On-demand download services. The On-demand service will offer content such as movies, songs, music videos, mobile ringtones and wallpapers. A new vFlash TV service which the company says is a Live streaming service ( a 7 second delay) offers 40 popular television channels.

The vFlash modem is priced at Rs 3,499/- and the MVNO operator is offering the service under three tariff options ranging from Rs 250 to Rs 1100 per month. Other options such as night plans and annual rental plans will also be launched soon.

M.A. Madhusudan, Chief Executive Officer, Virgin Mobile India said, “Today, the youth wants to stay connected 24/7 and with the launch of vFlash, we aim to put the surfing experience at their fingertips. At Virgin Mobile, we understand the distinct needs of our users; hence we are confident of satisfying high speed internet connectivity demands of our customers. With the rise of internet penetration in India, the data segment furnishes a stupendous opportunity allowing the customers to always stay connected.”

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Deval Parikh, Chief Officer, Handset, VAS & Procurement, Virgin Mobile India said, “We are glad to introduce yet another cost effective value proposition for our customers. At Virgin Mobile India, we have been constantly striving to provide convenient and easy-to-use services for our subscribers. As an introductory promo, we are offering the device at a hard-to-resist 30-day zero rental. In addition, we are also offering vFlash TV & access to unlimited legal downloads on our On Demand service at zero rental till Jan and March-ends respectively. The launch of this product is an example of our commitment to provide simplicity and control in the hands of our customers as it offers various exciting features such as live TV and on demand services.”

As an introductory offer, the company has launched a Zero Data Rental Plan for the first 30 days including zero rental for vFlash TV live TV. This is applicable till January 31, 2010. Zero rental for On-demand services will be applicable till March 31, 2010.
