Vodafone Essar to sponsor Premiere Golf tournament in Kolkata

Vodafone Essar today unveiled the inaugural edition of the Vodafone Royals Trophy in Kolkata. The first edition of the golf tournament to be played from January 21 to January 24 will play host to over 40 participating teams from around the world.

Royal Calcutta Golf Club (RCGC) is the main organizer of the tournament.

On the occasion, Sridhar Rao, Chief Executive Officer, Vodafone Essar East Limited said, “Vodafone has always been associated with different types of sports. On this occasion, we are delighted to be associated with a classic sport like golf and be a title sponsor of the Vodafone Royals Trophy. Golf’s popularity has increased tremendously over the years and in this tournament we will see international and national golfers performing on the same platform.”

“We take pride in hosting the ‘Royal’ clubs from across the world. A first for India, the Royals Trophy is the latest tournament to take forward and promote the country’s India’s growing image as a global powerhouse in the golfing world. We hope that the Vodafone Royals Trophy establishes itself as an enduring championship in the coming years,” said a spokesperson from RCGC.
