TT Correspondent |  New Delhi/Barcelona |  19 Feb 2010

Comviva announced on Thursday that Western Union has selected it to participate in the latter’s Mobile Vendor Program which was introduced in 2009 and is aimed at increasing the reach and accessibility of Western Union’s Money Transfer services across the globe.

Comviva’s mobile money solution, mobiquity offers a platform for mobile subscribers particularly in emerging markets to have a cash-free and card-free payment in a secured environment.

“This alliance exemplifies our commitment to continuous innovation in the mobile money space,” commented Manoranjan Mohapatra, CEO, Comviva. “Selection by Western Union, a global leader in money transfer services and cross-border transactions, is further recognition of Comviva’s leadership in extending mobile money services to under-served segments globally. International remittance via the mobile is the next logical step, and this partnership expands mobiquity’s capabilities in this regard considerably.”
